40 MINUTE CLASSES
Our shorter sessions are early morning (7.10am) and lunchtimes, for those that need to be in and out a bit quicker. You will see these labelled as express on the schedule.
50 MINUTE CLASSES
Most of our classes are 50 minutes in duration. Unless they are labelled as express, they are 50 minutes.
Fundamentals
Our entry level class that is suitable for beginners, those with limited mobility or strength, or an injury. Here we learn the fundamentals of Pilates, gain confidence on the reformer and tower and have a full body workout to promote improvements in muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and coordination. If you are a beginner to reformer Pilates, you must start at this level and consult the teachers about when you might move on to other classes. This class is suitable for all, but if you have considerable debilitating conditions, complex movement challenges or other particular learning needs you may benefit from a one to one session to assess your ability to attend classes.
Please note that fundamentals classes marked pregnancy safe are suitable for those who are not pregnant too.
Form
Our second level of class for those moving on from Fundamentals level, suitable for people who have spent some time learning the Pilates foundations on the reformer and tower, have good control on the reformer and are not limited in their movement by poor mobility or injury.
Please check with the teacher about suitability for attending this class. Here, reasonable balance is required and we work on improving your form with some more complex and challenging movements than those used at Fundamentals level. Expect a full body workout that really challenges your ability to ‘centre” and stabilise.
Fluid
Our third level of class for those who have been able to take on the challenges at Form level and are ready for the next steps. Please check with the teachers before attending this session.
A faster paced class than the first two levels, there is an expectation you can move into each set up position independently and are very familiar with the terminology, the springs and how to control the reformer. This class provides a high level of challenge for most people and may include use of the jump board to get that heart rate elevated and work on power, strength and flexibility with some fairly complex movement patterns.
Fierce
The highest level and fiercest of all our classes. Although this class might not always achieve the same level of burn you get in our Fluid class, there are plenty of challenges. An advanced session that requires very good flexibility, balance, coordination and control, your core is really tested.
Whilst we work on power, strength and flexibility the difference in this class is the development of motor skills. After developing the practice over time, here different movements are pieced together to form challenging sequences that require full body strength. Please check with the teachers before attending this class and do not attend if you are new to us.
